Play mahjong online free
Light Mahjong is a free American table in your browser. You can open it alone against computer players, send a code to friends, or put the board on a television and keep each rack on a phone. Nothing is installed.
What opens when you sit down
The free table is American mahjong with the Light Mahjong Card 2025, computer players for any seat a person does not take, and no turn timer. Play free now deals you into that game with three computer players so you are not waiting on a code. From the lobby you can instead open an empty table and send the invitation to friends. They join with a six-character code. Bots cover seats that are still empty.
You do not need an account to play a hand. Signing in matters when you want a saved group: the same people, a standing game night, and a record of recent hands. Free groups keep weekly and all-time standings and the latest 15 hands. Club, if a host chooses it, adds current and previous quarter standings and browsing of up to 2,000 retained hands. Everyone in the host’s groups gets that. The games, the groups, and the tournaments are not locked behind it.
Help while you are learning
A beginner match can turn the coach on. It suggests a move and a short reason, tied to this card rather than to a generic lesson. Play this move demonstrates a single step. Watch and learn plays further steps, and Pause gives the hand back. One-minute lessons, separate from a full game, practice the Charleston, calling a discard, and exchanging a tile for an exposed joker. They run even on a browser that cannot draw the 3D table.
Large print, under the table tools, enlarges numbers, names, and tile faces. The card can be magnified. Your rack can sit in two rows without changing the tiles you hold. None of that is a paid switch.
Friends in the same room
TV Party puts the shared table on a big screen and gives each player a private rack on their own phone. That is the shape of a kitchen-table game: one wall everyone can see, and a hand the person beside you cannot. Pass a code or a link. There is still nothing to install.
The room around the table is only a room. Storm pavilion, lantern house, and moon garden play by the same rules. Pick the one you like looking at.
Other games on the same site
The lobby can also deal Hong Kong mahjong, with a three-fan minimum and flowers set aside, Riichi, with yaku and dora, and mahjong solitaire. Those are free too, and they are different games. The guides on this site — how to play, the rules, tiles, scoring, and strategy — describe the American table, which is the one a new player is dealt first.
If the rules are still unfamiliar, the beginner guides are a shorter, interactive place to start, including Hong Kong and Riichi. The button on this page skips ahead and deals the American table.
Questions
Is the game free?
Yes. American, Hong Kong, Riichi, and solitaire all play without a subscription. An optional Club for hosts adds longer retained history and quarter standings. One host subscribes; the games themselves stay free.
Do I need an account to play?
No. You can sit down and play without signing in. An account is for saved groups, so the same friends can find their table and their standings later.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. The table is built for a phone, a tablet, and a laptop browser. Large print increases the tile names and the card. There is no app to install.
